Our Mission:

The goal of Pine Mountain Ranch is to raise quality Buffalo, through grass-feeding and minimal intervention. We strive to utilize as much of this great animal as possible, by using the god given talents of the wonderful people that surround us.

A Little History:

Pine Mountain ranch is the culmination of a quest that started in 1998. My inspiration to raise Buffalo came from the oscar-winning movie "Dances with Wolves". After joining the National Bison Assciation in 1998 as an associate member (non-Buffalo owner), I went on to join the Western Bison Association as a charter-associate member. In 1999, I attended the first Western Bison Association-Buffalo Stampede Show and Sale in Reno, Nv., more as an educational trip, not expecting to purchase any animals--at the time my wife and I had looked at ranches from California to Colorado. It was at the Reno show/sale, a friend Ed Kruse, talked us into making our first purchase, saying he would board my Buffalo until we were able to find a ranch. In 2000 we found Pine Mountain Ranch in Bend, OR and decided it was the perfect place to settle our family and grow our herd. Since that time, our herd has grown from those first two Buffalo, to over one hundred.

Because of their majesty, and their place in history as a symbol of America, I have set a personal goal to return Buffalo to the wild, by way of a state or national park. This way, more of the public can be educated on the Buffalo, and hopefully be as inspired as I am by these magnificent creatures--which are as much a part of this great country as the Bald Eagle.
